We had three matches in September but at the past six matches we obtained 16 points, this isnt nothing; its remarkable. Today continue working to maintain this rhythm and we need to keep moving. We are aware that its very hard but we have given the players a great deal of rest since they deserved it, but well begin and concentrate on then the most significant match for the fans against Derby and Wigan, Hull, Reading, Luton.
This is a fantastic moment and were going to enjoy it but we know the trip is very long and hard. We must keep working although we know that we will confront some moments that are bad . We will enjoy now because whats done is done, and today we will concentrate on the future and thats Wigan off
Wigan Athletic defender Chey Dunkley has been appointed the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for September.
At a goal-shy team, the three goals in as many games of Dunkley proved as essential.
Against Charlton, they showcased his talent, also, using a towering header along with a well-timed volley.
Dunkley said:I am really pleased to acquire at the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for September. It had been an month for the team in terms of results and also on an individual level getting the 3 aims was nice.
I have been working on this part of my match [scoring goals in set-pieces] with our first-team trainer Anthony Barry, therefore it is pleasing to start reaping the benefits.
Supervisor: Joey Barton
Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton was appointed the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month for September.
It turned out to be a month for Fleetwood, with their 10 points from four unbeaten games matched by 10 goals, three in each of the away games at Shrewsbury and Southend. Barton has bedded within his summer.
Barton stated:It is really nice that we get external recognition for the work that weve done. The players are tremendous this season, and this award is for our employees who work across our divisions.
I think that the award is a big vindication for all the work that everyone has completed and I accumulate this for everyone at the football club.
Theres a good deal of trust in the environment, and everybody believes that they have a part to playfrom the kitchen team, to the individuals who do exactly the grass, into the laundry area, everything.
Player: Jonson Clarke-Harris, Bristol Rovers
Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris was called the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month for September.
It wasnt only his five goals in five games, including a stunning overhead kick from Accrington, which stood out, but the fact that each of his efforts was an equaliser or the target which gave a lead to Rovers.
Clarke-Harris explained:I am thrilled to win this award on the rear of that which was a fantastic month for the the team and myself. During Septemberthe lads really clicked onto the pitch and we are attempting to carry this great momentum forward.
The goal against Accrington was likely my own highlight. The next thing, but it just sort of happened although I couldnt remember how I ended up attempting the bicycle kick! Its been a positive month and now we seem to build on this round the approaching games.
Supervisor: Michael Duff, Cheltenham
Cheltenham Town director Michael Duff was named the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for September.
The bases Duff laid season have been assembled on so far this effort. Strong in the home, it was the Robins 2-0 successes at Plymouth and Salford which revealed his tactical nous, making 13 points from five games.
Duff stated:The team are just a manifestation of exactly what the players perform. It is obviously a nice award but its more for the entire club actually as the board, the team, the supporters, the players – and Ive always said it if the staff on the pitch do well and winning, and all of us win.
It is a nice award to win but I think it is more a sign of recognition that other individuals beyond Cheltenham are beginning to recognise the work that has been happening for quite a while.
Player: James Clarke, Walsall
Walsall defender James Clarke has been called the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month.
Central defenders arent designed just like his 30-yard thunderbolt at Crawley or his acrobatic late bicycle-kick winner from Scunthorpe. As Walsall kept four clean sheets the existence of clarke was also vital at the back.
Clarke said:Im thrilled to win the award. It is the first time that Ive won something and winning it means that a lot.
To pick up three wins and three blank sheets was a great effort from the team and also to add a couple of goals to that too was the cherry on top of it all.
